Were the sheer bulk of the Ministry of Defence and the Admiralty buildings not to exist, visitors to London might well be able to traverse the city from the banks of the Thames to the distant Kensington, without once treading on the pavement, over the maze of royal parks beginning with St. James' Park, following through Green Park and ending at Hyde Park and Kensington Park. In order to reach them, the underground can be taken to Piccadilly Circus station or to Charing Cross. From the first, strollers must walk down Regent Street until they reach the Mall which skirts St. James Park.
